Here is a listing of the arena modes available in the game. Players can choose Co-Op or Versus play when playing offline.

Soul Snatcher[]

Steal enemy souls and run away. Stomp, punch, kick or kill your opponent to capture their soul. The longer you have their sweet, sweet spirit, the more points you or your team will get. Don't forget that you've got a soul too, so you better make sure that doesn't get stolen in the process!

Soul

Muckle[]

Beat and kill the enemy team. It's that simple. 1, 2, and land those punches. Give them a good uppercut. Use those weapons you earned. Get points for being the most powerful team.

Muckle
Muckle Point Distribution[]
  • Punches, slides, pushing, knockback from weapons or knockdowns from interrupted weapon throws: 2 points
  • Uppercuts, slashes: 3 points
  • Stuns caused by Boomerangs or Dodgeballs: 4 points
  • Death by Self-Destruction or other accidental death: 10 points
  • Direct kills or a death that occurs immediately after an opponent hits you with any attack: 20 points

An "accidental death is basically any death that occurs without an opponent hitting you within the last 5 seconds.

Other Accidental Deaths Include[]
  • Hitting any lethal level hazard
  • Being hit by any lethal Cat Guard weapon
  • Being eaten by a Raccalope
  • Entering doors (only possible in online play via Door Menu Storage or in modded levels. For some reason, this is considered a suicide by the game)

Non-lethal Cat Guard weapons (Boomerangs, Dodgeballs, Ice, Darts and Forceballs) do not award points at all when hitting any player.

Challenge[]

Score the best time. How fast can you go through a level? Or a better question would be: How much faster can you go than others? Prove to everyone that you're the best of the best at finishing before anyone else... In this context it's a good thing!

Challenge

King of the Hill[]

Stand on the crown blocks. They're golden and shiny. You can't miss them. The only problem is your enemies can't miss them either! Keep your opponents off those blocks and do your best to stay on them for a multitude of points.

Color the World[]

Color more blocks than the other team. You'll start off with a "blank slate" of greyish blocks and end with a kaleidoscope of colors–unless you're really good or really suck, then you'll only see giant blocks of color. The color that is displayed on your prisoner will be used as your personal color throughout the game mode. (i.e Blue Prisoner = Blue Color)

ColortheWorld

Grab the Gold[]

Grab more gold than the other team. A floating whale spits out gold. Your objective is to take those pieces to the safe. It's that easy. Just remember to keep them safe from your opponents!

GrabtheGold

Ball Game[]

Get the ball in the basket. When you play this mode, you'll be grabbing, passing, and dunking in no time! Just remember to put the ball into your opponent's hoop and not your own!

BallGame

Capture the Horse[]

Ride the horse to the stables. You'll have a chance to use your sneaky skills to steal the other team's horse. Lead the horse all the way back to your own stable to get your haul of points.

Trivia[]

  • It is impossible to pick up your teammate's soul in Soul Snatchers. They have to retrieve it themselves if they lose it.
  • King of the Hill is the only arena mode where an AI player will self-destruct, and it will do this if there is no unobstructed path to the Crown Block or a human player from its current location for longer than 2 seconds.
    • If there is no way whatsoever for the AI to reach its destination by double-jumping from any reasonable point in the level, which can be caused by things like ledges that are more than 3 blocks high without anything to assist it in climbing them, or blockades that get in its way, then the path is now considered "obstructed" to the AI,
    • It will keep doing this until it spawns somewhere where there is an unobstructed path to its destination, or the existing obstruction disappears.
    • The AI will use players or level objects such as Magma Blocks as a boost to reach its destination if it is able to combine that with a double jump to get there.
    • If it cannot reach a Crown Block but it can detect and reach an opposing player, then it will start trying to fight the player instead.
    • The AI does not behave like this in any other mode. It will instead just stop moving if its path is obstructed in any way.
  • In local play, nearly all Arena modes try to balance the number of players. If there are more players one one side than the other, then the game will spawn AI players, known as Bad Guys, on the other side to compensate.
    • Likewise, if human players drop out, then the extra AI players will be removed right along with them.
    • If all 4 human players are playing Co-Op, then they pick an arena mode, there will effectively be 8 Prisoners fighting together. This is the only way to achieve this in the game.
  • Challenge is the only mode that does not spawn AI prisoners when you're playing alone or in co-op.
    • This also means Challenge is the only arena mode that you cannot lose at without timing out completely when playing solo.
    • Challenge is also the only mode that does not support 4-player co-op in local play.
  • Due to the fact that you can finish the levels quickly, have no opponents and can just re-enter the mode every time you finish all 15 levels to reset them, solo Challenge is the fastest and most consistent gem farm in the entire game, giving 60 gems per 15-level run.
